Wendel to buy AlliedBarton Security Services

Security officers who work for AlliedBarton in fifteen metro areas have united with SEIU. AlliedBarton is currently being acquired by Wendel, a French private equity company.

In a statement provided to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Valarie Long said, “SEIU is optimistic about Wendel’s acquisition of AlliedBarton. Wendel is a family-owned company with a history of responsible, long-term investment. Wendel also has a particular interest in ensuring workplace safety – an area of special interest for security officers.

“We look forward to continuing the positive relationship between AlliedBarton and SEIU security officers who are working to raise standards in our industry.”

The Philadephia Inquirer also spoke with with SEIU 32BJ member Michael Brown, a bicycle officer at Temple University who works for AlliedBarton. Brown noted the gains that Philly officers have made since organizing their union, including paid healthcare, dental and vision coverage, as well as improved training and equipment.
