Security Officers in Boston have been at the forefront of the pandemic as their job is essential- showing up everyday and keeping people safe. As their union contract came up for negotiations, these officers knew they had to stand together and stand strong to make gains.
Now, these Boston Security Officers, members of 32BJ SEIU, have in their union contract, which cover 2,800 members:
- Largest wage increases ever
- Juneteenth as a holiday
- Holdover language to address mandatory holdovers when they are excessive or abusive
- Use of sick days for personal reasons
- Improved language to preserve seniority rights of officers removed at client’s request
- Stronger language to protect more categories and incorporate gender neutral language
These are the types of changes Security Officers can make when they stand together and they say, “We Protect, Show Some Respect!”
