Los Angeles County relies on privately contracted companies for specialized services such as janitorial, security, environmental services and food services. These contractors employ over 2,000 workers, who are all essential in keeping Los Angeles County functioning.
As we begin to recover, we must do better by these contracted essential workers who helped LA County pull through the pandemic.
Essential workers have been petitioning, calling, stickering up and speaking out to move the LA County Board of Supervisors to take action.
On December 7th, the LA County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a motion to study the financial impacts of having contracted employees have affordable, employer provided healthcare and paid time off.
